Huntsmill Farm Shalstone
I recently attended the wedding of Chloe & Callum which took place at Huntsmill Farm Shalstone. An 18th century barn wedding venue located in rural Buckinghamshire, the venue also closely borders Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire. I was booked to look after their Golden Retriever Bruno who loved all the attention he received on the day.
Huntsmill Farm Wedding Venue
For couples who book Huntsmill Farm for their wedding you have the choice of both an indoor or outdoor ceremony. The indoor space is suitable for a ceremony of up to 100 guests. The ceremony space is also where the wedding breakfast / reception will take place. The two images below show how this space is setup for both the ceremony and reception.

For those that want an outdoor ceremony, there is a small covered area called The Shed where the vows are exchanged. The guests will be seated around the Shed and again is suitable for up to 100 guests. This particular wedding ceremony took place indoors and I would imagine most couples opt for an indoor ceremony.
In terms of the grounds at Huntsmill Farm there is plenty of green space to exercise a dog and Bruno seemed to enjoy exploring the venue. There were a number of garden games on the lawns and these seem to be a popular thing at many modern weddings I’ve attended. In terms of outdoor photo opportunities there are a few quirky additions that seem popular with wedding couples and guests alike. One of these additions is a vintage tractor, another is a huge wooden chair.
Huntsmill Farm Accommodation
For couples and guests that wish to stay at Huntsmill Farm overnight there are a total of 7 self catering cottages that can sleep up to 32 guests as follows:
- The Old Dairy (sleeps 2) – Usually the cottage used by the wedding couple. Has large bed, wood burner, roll top bath and a living room and kitchen.
- Blacksmith’s Cottage (sleeps 6-8) – This 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom cottage has one double bedroom and 2 twin bedrooms. There is also a sofa bed in the lounge and a kitchen.
- The Granary (sleeps 4-6) – There is an image of the outside of this cottage in the gallery below. This two bedroom cottage has one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. There is also a sofa bed in the lounge.
- The Stables (sleeps 4) – A two bedroom cottage, one a double and one a twin. Also has an open plan kitchen and lounge area. This cottage is where I looked after Bruno in the evening until 11pm when a family member took over care duties. I don’t believe all 7 cottages are dog friendly but this one certainly seems to be.
- Mill Cottage (sleeps 4) – A two bedroom cottage with one double and one twin. Also has an open plan living room and kitchen.
- Well Cottage (sleeps 2-4) – One double bedroom and a lounge that contains a sofa bed. Also has self catering kitchen.
- Carter’s Cottage (sleeps 2-4) – Another one bedroom cottage with a double bed. Lounge contains a sofa bed. Also has self catering kitchen.
These cottages can be booked on various accommodation platforms throughout the year. Couples tend to book their wedding venue at least 12 months in advance but I do wonder if it’s also possible to book the accommodation a year ahead? You would imagine that Huntsmill Farm would want to prioritise wedding bookings.
