Crockwell Farm
In early August I attended the wedding of Jordan and Jess at Crockwell Farm near Daventry where I was responsible for looking after their Staffy Luna. The couple had booked my Gold package, meaning I would stay at the venue until 11pm, at which time Jess’ mother and stepfather would take over and look after Luna overnight in one of the dog friendly bedrooms at Crockwell Farm.
Crockwell Farm Weddings
Originally Crockwell Farm was used for agriculture but in the early 2000’s it underwent a restoration and started to host small weddings and parties. The buildings that make up Crockwell Farm include:
- The Vaulted Barn. This building dates back to the 1700s and is today used for the wedding ceremony. Suitable for up to 90 guests this space only needs minimal decoration to make it feel special.
- The Saddle Room Bar. Connected to both the Vaulted Barn and The Starlit Marquee (where the wedding reception / breakfast typically takes place) is the bar area. Refurbished in 2020 the bar is usually open an hour before the start of the ceremony and remains open until the end of the wedding celebrations, usually at 12:30am.
- The Starlit Marquee is contained within a well insulated building and depending on the type of tables used can cater for up to 200 guests. Couples who book weddings at Crockwell Farm have access to the property from 2pm the day before the wedding, giving the wedding party time to decorate this area exactly how they wish. The Starlit Marquee can also be used to host the wedding ceremony should you have more than 90 guests which is the capacity for the Vaulted Barn.
- Orchard Pavilion. For those couples who prefer an outdoor wedding ceremony, the Orchard Pavilion is a wonderful option. Of course if the weather isn’t suitable on the day you can always switch back to one of the indoor options.
- The Prep Room. A great space for the bridal party to get ready. Lots of natural light, large mirrors, chairs and a kitchenette. Exit the Prep room and turn left and it’s just a few paces to the Vaulted Barn!
- The Breakfast Room. A banqueting room that is ideal to have breakfast for all those who stayed at Crockwell Farm the night before the wedding.
- Overnight accommodation. Crockwell Farm has a total of 11 bedrooms, located either in the main farmhouse (which you can see in the distance of the photo at the top of this article) or in the adjoining cottages. I’m not sure if all bedrooms are dog friendly but at least one of the cottages is. The cottage Luna would sleep in, came with a self catering kitchen and was a great space for me to take Luna to relax later in the evening and feed her an evening meal.
Crockwell Farm has plenty of space around the main buildings where guests can mingle or where the photographers can get photos of the couple and their wedding guests. There was also some grass areas where I could walk Luna.

I was impressed by what I saw at Crockwell Farm. All the staff I interacted with on the day seemed very professional and looking at their ratings online it seems that they are a very popular dog friendly wedding venue. I’ll leave you with just one family photo that I took on the day that includes Luna the Staffy.
