Broadfield Court
I recently had the chance to visit Broadfield Court, an impressive country house wedding venue located in Herefordshire. I was there for the wedding of Mike & Sarah, tasked with looking after their dogs Bandit and Nala.
Broadfield Court History
The current owners Helen & John bought Broadfield Court in 2017 and after some renovations it opened in 2019 as an exclusive use venue for weddings and other events such as corporate hire. The history however goes back much further. Mentioned in the Domesday book, by the 14th century it was an important house with its own chapel. In 1825 the house underwent further restoration and was extended and converted to a Gothic mansion. Today the house and impressive gardens make for an impressive wedding venue that is popular with couples and their guests.

Weddings at Broadfield Court
Wedding ceremonies at Broadfield Court can take place in a number of different areas, both indoor and outdoor.
The indoor options include the Dining Room with wood panelling and large stone fireplace is suitable for up to 60 guests. Alternatively the inner hall can be used which is suitable for up to 50 guests. They also list the Fold as an indoor venue. It’s an outdoor tent like structure but with a roof and walls to protect against the elements it can feel like an indoor space and caters for up to 150. From next year there will also be a stone barn option that is suitable for up to 120 guests.
Many couples will opt for an outdoor ceremony, especially during the summer season. Locations could include the rose garden or a woodland setting which is what Mike & Sarah opted for. The woodland option has the advantage of providing soft, dappled light even on sunny days which might be beneficial for wedding photos. Outdoor ceremonies can be for up to 175 guests.
After the ceremony there is usually around 90 minutes or more for a drinks reception. During this time the photographer is likely to want to try and take many of the couple and group photos. Many of the guests chatted with each other enjoying drinks and canapés whilst some others took the opportunity to play some of the lawn games on offer.

Wedding reception / wedding breakfast options are again pretty varied at Broadfield Court. The dining room is an indoor option for 50 guests. For an outdoor option you could go with a large marquee which can cater for up to 170 guests. This is what Mike & Sarah decided to use and you can see a photo of the outside of this below. Inside there were lots of tables, benches, seated areas and fairy lights.

From next year the new barn will become another option for an indoor reception that will be suitable for up to 90 guests.
Broadfield Court Accommodation
Included in the sole use hire price of Broadfield Court are the 8 bedrooms. The bridal suite comes with a dressing room which can be used as a 9th bedroom if required. If you need accommodation for more guests the Broadfield Coach House can also be hired at additional cost for up to another 6 or 7 people.
The wedding packages at Broadfield Court assume that the accommodation will be used for a 2 night minimum. Longer stays can be booked on request at additional cost.
Summary
Broadfield Court is worth consideration if you are looking for a dog friendly wedding venue in Herefordshire. It has the facilities to handle wedding parties of various sizes and dogs are very welcome at the venue. The venue is also very flexible in terms of the caterers you want to use for your wedding, whereas many venues insist you use their own caterers.
