Grendon Hall

Grendon Hall

At the end of September 2025 I visited Grendon Hall for the first time to look after Eva the Dalmatian at the wedding of Irina and Paul. Dating back to the 16th century, Grendon Hall has a very varied history. For most of its life Grendon Hall was owned by the Chetwynd family until their family line ended in 1913 and the property was sold. After falling into disrepair the local council finally aquired it shortly after the Second World War. The council used it for a variety of things including residential sports and music courses. It was sold because the council could not afford the running costs.

Grendon Hall is a very grand looking building with some amazing grounds. The current owners seem to be doing all they can to make this a special wedding venue. Besides weddings, Grendon Hall is also availble for private events like birthday parties. They also hold afternoon teas.

Grendon Hall Weddings

Grendon Hall can host a wedding from anywhere between 30 and 200 guests. I get the sense that most ceremonies take place inside but couples can also have an outdoor ceremony if they wish. I believe the garden room is often used for the smaller weddings and the grounds are used if a couple want 200 guests to attend. The room that is used for most ceremony sizes has some lovely architectural details and large windows which allows natural light to flood the room. For many couples this room is also used for the wedding breakfast later in the day.

Grendon Hall offers in-house catering but apparently they are open to discussing outside catering options with couples.

Naturally as my presence would indicate, Grendon Hall is a dog friendly wedding venue. Eva the Dalmatian was there mostly to take part in the photos after the ceremony but dogs can also be ring bearers at Grendon Hall if you wish. Eva loved the grounds at Grendon Hall and also seemed to enjoy playing ball with myself and one of the groundsmen. Paul and Irina booked my Silver Package so Eva was only at Grendon Hall for a few hours. Grendon Hall offers overnight accommodation for the couple and their guests but I couldn’t find anything on their website to indicate that they have any dog friendly bedrooms. As well as occupying Eva in the grounds before the ceremony I also assisted the official photographer, Images by Anna, after the ceremony for the images where Eva was in front of camera. Where possible I also try and capture some of my own images of the day, the one of Eva in front of Grendon Hall is just an example.

Grendon Hall Reviews

Looking at reviews of Grendon Hall they are very positive. At the time of writing they have 100 5-star reviews on Google. Many of the reviews seem to relate to birthday parties, Sunday roasts and murder mystery events. There are some very positive wedding recviews as well and I get the sense that the wedding market is an area that Grendon Hall is keen to grow. I wouln’t be surprised if the number of weddings they hold increases year on year.

  1. Hi. I would like to say huge thanks for your help with Eva. She had amazing day playing with Gary.
With the owners who did our venue on that time, they allowed to us keep Eva in our room for a night, but that was our decision to send her with our parents home (we wanted enjoy our first night as Mr & Mrs, hehe).
We can recommend Gary if you need a dog sitter. Eva slept all day after wedding.
