Hinwick House
In late April 2026 I was lucky enough to visit another ‘new to me’ dog friendly wedding venue, Hinwick House near Wellingborough. I was there to look after Albus the Goldendoodle for the wedding of Lauren and Tom who had booked my Gold package.
Hinwick House Wedding
Hinwick House dates back to 1710 and was modelled on the original Buckingham Palace. This Grade I listed Queen Anne style property is located in Bedfordshire, close to Wellingborough. This sole use venue is rather grand looking and large. In terms of wedding capacity, online sources seem to vary greatly. My guess is that they are able to handle a wide range of party sizes, depending on where the couple would like to have the actual ceremony. Some elect to have an outdoor ceremony in the beautiful grounds, other decide to use one of the interior rooms. The Great Hall is often cited as a ceremony room and is for up to 90 guests. For this particular wedding though, I believe one of the Queen Anne formal rooms was used as can be seen in the image below.
The venue also has 20+ bedrooms so many of your guests will be able to stay overnight. Some of these bedrooms must also be dog friendly as Albus stayed at the venue the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding. One of the most striking features of the interior was the main staircase which looked incredible once the florists had covered it in blooms. Many guests were taking selfies with the staircase as a backdrop. I believe if a couple wants to use a marquee in the grounds of Hinwick House the capacity for a wedding can be increased to as much as 500 guests.
In terms of dog friendly wedding venues every couple seems to have their own set of requirements that are most important to them. Many like a blank canvas of a barn conversion where you can create your own feel via the way it’s decorated on the day. There is something to be said though for a stately home venue. High ceilings, beautiful detailing, expensive looking furnishings and amazing grounds are likely to impress guests but also offer your wedding photographer with some incredible backgrounds for the images they create.
