Barton Hall Hotel & Spa
In late May I visited Barton Hall Hotel & Spa near Kettering where I was the wedding dog chaperone for Tula the Beagle. The couple had booked my Platinum package where I would be looking after Tula in the family home overnight. Due to Tula’s age (she’s 15) and the hot temperatures on the day we decided Tula would only spend an hour or two at the wedding venue to take part is some post ceremony photos.
Barton Hall Hotel & Spa Wedding Venue
Barton Hall Hotel & Spa is located in Kettering, just to the south east of the town centre. A premium hotel with rooms that can be booked by regular hotel guests on platforms like booking.com, it also markets itself as a weddind venue. Their website states that they can cater for weddings up to 120 guests. The venue is large with plenty of space, so whilst it not being a sole use venue I don’t imagine wedding parties feel they are mixing with regular guests too much.
Most couples opt for the wedding ceremony to take place in the Grade I listed Orangery which is a stunning location that benefits from lots of wonderful natural light. The images below show the Orangery within the extensive hotel grounds as well as an interior image of the Orangery.

Barton Hall Hotel & Spa makes a perfect location for the bride and her bridesmaids to stay the night before the wedding. Relaxing in this lovely location and taking advantage of some of the spa treatments on offer is a perfect start to the wedding celebrations.
The hotel is big enough to arrange for dedicated spaces for the wedding party to hold their wedding breakfast after the ceremony. I did not explore the interior of the hotel completely but I did manage to take the photograph below which illustrates the typical room used for the wedding breakfast. I’d imagine this room is then converted to the space for the wedding party dancing and celebrations into the night.

Is Barton Hall Dog Friendly?
You could be forgiven for thinking that Barton Hall is not a dog friendly venue. Indeed online it says that they are not dog friendly. Therefore wedding couples or indeed hotel guests hoping to stay at Barton Hall with their dogs should look elsewhere. Having said this if you want your dog to be a part of your wedding ceremony and then take part in some post ceremony photos, it would seem that Barton Hall allow this. Once Tula had been part of the post ceremony photos I took her back to the family home where I stayed with her until the following morning.

Barton Hall Hotel & Spa Reviews
If Barton Hall is on your shortlist of possible wedding venues you will probably be heartened to read many of the reviews online, which are mostly very positive. Naturally many of the reviews are from hotel guests rather than from wedding parties but it was interesting to read the same positive aspects come up time and again including:
- How spacious the bedrooms are and how clean the hotel is in general.
- How welcoming and professional the staff are.
- The quality of the spa facilities (though I’m not sure it has the capacity should all hotel guests want to use it).
Interestingly a number of the reviews were for their Tesla superchargers which were very obvious in the main carpark. I did think that there seemed to be a large number of charging points and it seems the public sometimes visit Barton Hall just to charge their car and have a quick coffee while they are waiting.
Those reviews relating to wedding guests did seem largely positive. I was only at the venue for a couple of hours but I can certainly say that those members of staff I interacted with were very friendly and professional.
