Abbey Barn Wedding Venue

Abbey Barn Norfolk

I recently visited another dog friendly wedding venue that’s part of the Unique Norfolk Venues group, namely Abbey Barn. The group has a total of 7 venues in the region, though strictly speaking one is actually located in Suffolk, not Norfolk. The other 6 venues are as follows:

Oxnead Hall
Stotesham Park
Manor Mews
Reymerston Hall
Pentney Abbey
Branches Park (in Suffolk)

All the venues have something to offer to a wedding couple and if you plan to get married in this part of the UK it would be worth you visiting their website to compare the features and maximim capacity of each venue.

Abbey barn Capacity & Other Information

Abbey Barn is one of the newest venues within the Unique Norfolk Venues group and has been carrying out weddings for about a year or so. This renovated barn is located close to the village of Barton Bendish which is to the west of Swaffham and is south east of King’s Lynn. There are a number of buildings on the premises that are suitable for all parts of your wedding celebrations as follows:

Preparation Room

With a good number of mirrors, seats, a fridge and kettle this room offers a decent amount of space perfect for a bride, her bridal party and a hair stylist and make-up artist to use. It also has its own ensuite toilet and shower.

The South Barn

The South Barn is where the wedding ceremony will take place, though there is also the option to hold the ceremony outdoors under the Courtyard Pavilion if you prefer. It benefits from exposed wooden beams and large windows which help flood the barn with natural light. The photo below only gives an indication of the space in this barn. On an actual wedding there would normally be far more chairs and those chairs would also be decorated for the wedding.

The North Barn

The North Barn is where the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations would take place. It has a capacity for up to 110 guests. In the evening once tables are moved this capacity increases to 150 guests for the evening celebrations.

Again the photo above is just an indication of the space available. Behind the green door at the back of this room is where the food is prepared. The bar is to the right at the far end of this image. The image below shows the bar area.

The Farmhouse & Other Areas

There is also a large cottage on the premises known as The Farmhouse which can sleep a total of 16 guests across 8 bedrooms when the evening celebrations finally start to wind down. There are 7 double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom. The honeymoon suite is on the top floor

The already mentioned outdoor Courtyard Pavilion will no doubt prove a popular location for guests to mingle and is also where drinks and snacks may be served. As a covered area it’s also good protection from any brief rain showers.

Finally Abbey Barn also has plenty of car parking for all your guests and it’s on a hard surface so guests should remain clean walking between their cars and the venue.

Abbey Barn Dog Policy

Dogs are allowed at this venue for the wedding ceremony and for a brief time afterwards in order to have photographs that include your dog. Since dogs are not allowed overnight couples would normally look to employ a wedding dog chaperone service like ourselves. Our task would be to collect their dog, bring it to the venue for the ceremony and photos and then take the dog to their overnight accommodation. This overnight accommodation would either be a home boarder or kennels that the couple have used before or in many cases we will be asked to stay the night at their home with their dog. This is a very popular option as the dog is very comfortable in their own home and it maintains their normal routine as much as possible.
